Why I Chose the White Desert for Ride Egypt’s New Horseback Adventure

When I first visited the White Desert, I knew it was something special. I’ve explored Egypt on horseback for many years—through villages, along the Nile, across golden beaches—but this landscape stopped me in my tracks. Vast, wild, and surreal, the White Desert isn’t just beautiful—it feels like it was made for horses.

As the founder of Ride Egypt, I’ve always wanted to design journeys that bring out the very best in both our riders and our horses. And here, in the White Desert, I found the perfect stage for that magic.

A Landscape Made for Horses

The White Desert is unlike anywhere else in the world. Wind has sculpted chalk and limestone into towers, cliffs, and shapes that look almost otherworldly. But what makes it extraordinary for us is the endless open space.

Our Arabian horses thrive here. These are landscapes where they can run freely, stretch their legs, and show their true spirit. To ride them here is to feel their power, speed, and joy as they gallop across the plains, manes flying in the wind. Watching them move in this setting is like watching them come home.

As riders, it’s exhilarating. You’re not just sitting on a horse—you’re sharing in their freedom, their energy, and their magic.

Building a Stable at Bahariya

I chose to build a stable and eco-lodge in Bahariya Oasis as the base for this adventure. It means our horses have a permanent home here, with space to graze, live happily, and rest well after long rides. For guests, it offers comfort and authenticity—waking up with the sound of horses outside your window, sharing meals cooked with care, and stepping straight into the saddle for days of adventure.

It’s more than just a place to stay; it’s a way to truly connect with both the horses and the land.

The Desert by Day and Night

Riding in the White Desert is a dream by day, but it transforms at night. Part of this holiday is camping beneath the stars, because I believe it’s something everyone should experience. After a long ride, we gather around the fire, share stories, and eat simple, delicious meals. Then, lying back on blankets, you see a sky so bright with stars it feels almost unreal.

This is the kind of memory that stays with you forever—the kind of experience I created Ride Egypt for.

Why the White Desert, Why Now

For me, the White Desert represents everything I love about Egypt: its wildness, its beauty, and its ability to take your breath away when you least expect it. It’s a place that lets horses be horses—free, powerful, and joyous. It’s also a place that strips life back to its essence: silence, sky, stars, and the bond between horse and rider.

I wanted our new riding season to be built around this desert because it’s more than a destination—it’s a feeling. A fairytale that unfolds every time you ride into its heart.

An Invitation

If you’ve ever dreamed of galloping across wide open spaces, of feeling your horse’s power beneath you as the desert stretches endlessly around you, this holiday is for you. I designed it to share the magic I felt the first time I rode here—and the joy I still feel every time I return.

The White Desert is not just the setting for our adventure. It’s the soul of it. And I can’t wait to welcome you here, to ride with us, and to see the horses come alive in the land that was made for them.
